Two City Members complete Half Marathon
Gareth Williams and Hannah Ager honourable completed the Birmingham half Marathon on Sunday, in 01:31:53 and 01:46:42 respectively. The run, which started at Walsall Alexander Stadium, finished thirteen miles down the road at Birmingham’s notorious Broad street.
The first stage of the course started on the A34 heading into Birmingham City Centre. This section includes a climb over one of the flyovers on this road. The route then enters the city centre where there are several changes in direction and height. Runners will also pass several city landmarks including Birmingham Cathedral and the Council House and Town Hall in Victoria Square. Runners then head down hill to the Mailbox, following which there is a short steep climb.
Then they left the city centre and the course undulates through Edgbaston before a two and a half mile gradual descent to the finish line on Broad Street near Centenary Square.
Gareth, a current first team squad member just missed his target of 1:30hr by the smallest of margins, but the half marathon must have been a stroll in the park compared to his earlier London Marathon conquests. However, Hannah was only 15 minutes behind, who has recently joined the club from Highbury.
Birmingham City would like to congratulations the both of them on their achievement. And wish them luck in the future.
