The Start

Birmingham City was founded in September 2005 by Craig Gosling and was quickly joined by Birmingham University Secretary Sally Akers. The clubs first training session took place on a dark October evening at Selly Park. The club, after a whistle stop tour around various Birmingham Sports Centre, finally found a home at the newly built Selly Park Technology College School for girls. Where still today, we train every Wednesday at.

Instant Success

Birmingham City soon aspired to greatness is their first season where they finished Second in the former CEKL Division 2, and gained promotion to the CEKL Division 1 at the first time of asking. Their second and third year in the Division they finished a respectable 2nd, only narrowly missing out as Champions.

West Midlands Korfball League

In 2006 saw the first edition of the West Midlands Indoor league which saw the creation of our Second and subsequent third team. But it was the summer league which saw the first piece of silver wear come to Birmingham, as Birmingham City 1 won 7 out of their 8 matches.

First Team

The first team currently plays in the Central England Korfball Legaue and the Midlands Regional League. With around 18-20 fixtures a year, this team is highly committed and many of its members have international caps.

Second and Third Teams

Both these teams compete on a more fun but competitive basis in the Indoor and Outdoor West Midlands League. Both will be eyeing the championship this year, and will be looking to knock off the twice defending champions Birmingham University 1.
