Birmingham City Korfball Club History

The Start
Birmingham City was founded in September 2005 by Craig Gosling. The clubs first training session took place on a dark October evening at Selly Park. The club, after a whistle stop tour around various Birmingham Sports Centre, finally found a home at the newly built Selly Park Technology College School for girls. Where we still train to this day, every Wednesday 19:00- 20:30pm.

Club Success
Birmingham City have gone from strength to strength, battling their way through the leagues, gaining confidence (and players!) along the way.

The first team currently plays in the England Korfball National League. With 18 fixtures a year, this team is highly committed and some of its members have international caps. This is the second time Birmingham have featured in top flight of English club korfball, and we have plans to stay!

The second team plays in the Central England Regional League 1 and are looking to continue our past form in this league by pushing for the title.

The third team play regularly in the East Midlands Korfball league. This team is made up of newer players who are keen to hone their skills to push for a place training alongside the 1st and 2nd team squad.

This year we have expanded our ranks to include a fourth team- an ideal place for newer people to the sport to learn the rules whilst playing for fun!
