BCKC 1s vs Bearsted 1s:
Brum City went into this game with high hopes of securing only our second ever National League win and in doing so lifting us out of the automatic relegation places. In short; success! But looking closer it was a really tough game. We knew Bearsted would make us work hard and they did more than that in the first half as they stunted our attack, disrupted our rhythm and even took the lead for a short period. We went into half time with a 1 goal lead and knew we had to up our level for the 2nd half. We duly did and managed to edge away from our opposition with a hat full of unanswered goals. Bearsted got a couple back in quick succession with about 10 minutes to go but we put out the flames and ran out (relatively) comfortable victors 17-12.
BCKC 2s vs Uob 3s
The second of BCKC 2’s WMKL matches looked a quite comfortable match on paper. Having beaten Birmingham Uni’s 2nd team comfortably the previous sunday spirits were high going into this one. We welcomed Steve and Emily for their first games of the season as well as handing a debut to korf newcomer Eugene. We started strongly earning a 2 goal cushion and defending great as a team. It was a tight affair with both sides trading goals, city leading 4-2 at half time. Brum city stayed in control leading 6-4 with 10 minutes remaining. But then Uni upped their game. Creating some openings against the tight city defence, Uob managed to bring the scores level and with 1 minute remaining scored a great shot from long range to take the lead. BCKC kept their heads and made some quality openings in the final moments but the ball just would not drop; Uob 3s beating BCKC 2s 7-6; What a game!
